Big Feis win for Tullamore Stage School Choir

Tullamore Stage School Choir is celebrating a major win this week at the prestigious Feis Ceoil 2023 where it scooped the overall award in the Junior Choirs Unison competition.

The choir, under the direction of Regina McCarthy, was praised by the adjudicators for its “impeccable diction, overall musicality” and its “wonderful interpretation” of their chosen musical pieces.

The Tullamore Stage School Children’s Choir has won awards at several prestigious music festivals since its foundation a decade ago and is made up of boys and girls between the ages of eight and 14.

For the performance in the Junior Choirs Unison section of the Feis Ceoil in the RDS, Dublin on Tuesday of this week, the choir sang two pieces, ‘Bruce and the Spider’ by Gawthorne and ‘Dance of the Willow’ by Victoria Ebel-Sabo.

As well as taking the overall award in the Junior Choirs Unison competition, the young members of the Tullamore Stage School Choir also qualified for the finals of the overall School Choir of the Year, having come through a total of eight qualification categories throughout the day on Tuesday last.
