Geashill are national winners in Pride of Place competition
Geashill Tidy Towns are celebrating this weekend after securing a covered IPB Pride of Place win.
The annual IPB Pride of Place competition organised by Co-operation Ireland in partnership with IPB Insurance, promotes and celebrates the best in community development, and recognises the enormous efforts of volunteers in making their local neighbourhoods better places to live, work and socialise.
Geashill Tidy Towns (representing the Edenderry Municipal District area) was nominated in the Creative Place category and was announced as the winners in a ceremony on Saturday night at Clayton Hotel in Dublin.
Mucklagh Community Development CLG and Pullough Village were runners up in their respective categories.
Mucklagh Community Development CLG, representing the Tullamore Municipal District area, was a finalist in the Population: 1,000 to 2,000 category, while Pullough Village (representing the Birr Municipal District area)was finalist in the Community Resilience category.
Minister of State Pippa Hackett has hailed the Offaly successes. “Big congratulations to Geashill Tidy Towns - the winner of their category, and to Mucklagh Community Centre & Pullough Community Centre who were awarded national Runners-up.”
