'Uncomfortably warm' this weekend, say Met Éireann

Met Éireann have issued a high temperature weather advisory as a brief heatwave is expected to hit Ireland this weekend and into next week.

The advisory is in place for the next seven days.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with some sunny spells and temperatures reaching 20 degrees. High temperatures will continue into the night.

Saturday will see highest temperatures of 25 degrees but will be mostly cloudy here in the Midlands.

Sunday is forecasted to reach 27 degrees in the afternoon and will be sunny with some clouds and little chance of rain.

It is expected to be "uncomfortably warm" this weekend as high temperatures continue overnight.

Monday will see temperatures ranging from 17 - 30 degrees all across the country, and is en route to becoming the hottest day of the year so far.

The heatwave continues into Tuesday when it is expected to reach highs of 28 degrees.

The best summer sun will be felt across the Midlands, the rest of Leinster and Munster, but scattered showers will move to Connacht and Ulster.

Met Éireann are warning people to be safe in the sun and are urging them to follow safety rules when swimming in the sea, lakes or rivers over the next week.
