Offaly to host STEM VEX Robotics All Ireland championship for Gaelscoileanna

Offaly County Council is delighted to be hosting the “Craobh Uile-Éireann STEM VEX Róbataic 2022 do Ghaelscoileanna” in Birr Castle on Friday, March 11, in partnership with Munster Technological University. This event is part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Local Enterprise Week, and Engineers Week.

Ghaelscoileanna from all corners of Ireland will be taking part in the competition and it’s a unique opportunity to celebrate our native language and culture on the beautiful grounds of Birr Castle.

Birr Castle is a hub of scientific discovery and innovation. The VEX Róbataic 2022 event is going to take place in front of the famous Great Telescope and it will take place between 10:00 – 14:30 on March 11th 2022 and everyone is welcome to join us.

Entry is FREE and it’s going to be a social event with the main aim to promote Irish in a fun, enjoyable, and open way. There will be an emphasis on speaking Irish and you will also get the chance to visit I-LOFAR and explore the radio universe from Birr, discover all about photography, engineering, science and astronomy in the newly revamped Science Centre, and enjoy the award-winning gardens and walks along peaceful rivers and the lake.

Speaking about the event, Leas-Cathaoirleach of Birr Municipal District, Cllr John Carroll said: “We are delighted to host this event in Birr for Seachtain na Gaeilge. It’s a family event that everyone can enjoy and it’s an opportunity to celebrate and speak our Irish language in the beautiful grounds of Birr Castle”
