Booster campaign opens for over 30s

The HSE has expanded the rollout of the Covid-19 booster campaign and is inviting people aged over 30 for theirs.

Centres have now opened for people who have already completed their primary course of Covid-19 vaccine for their booster dose.

People aged between 16 and 29 who received a Janssen primary dose will also be invited for a booster vaccine.

The HSE is encouraging everyone to avail of your booster dose when offered as it says it gives you the best protection from serious illness caused by Covid -19.

Appointments for a booster dose can be booked on the HSE website or people can "walk in" to vaccination clinics. Boosters are also being administered by some pharmacies and GPs surgeries who are vaccinating their patients.

People need to bring a photo ID and proof of their date of birth.

Proof of your place of work will also be required if you are a healthcare worker and attending a walk-in clinic as you will not be able to get your booster dose without it.

People will be offered a single dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna) vaccine. You can get these vaccines even if you got a different type vaccine for your primary course (AstraZeneca, Janssen, Pfizer or Moderna).

The booster dose will only be given at a minimum of a three month interval from a person’s last dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

If you had Covid-19 since you were vaccinated, you should get your booster dose at least three months after your last positive test result.
