Gardaí issue fraud warning after local attempts to steal money

Gardaí in Carbury and Portarlington are investigating two incidents that occurred on Tuesday 18 May where a male called to two homes and attempted to steal money.

In one of the incidents the man was successful in convincing the injured party to part with a sum of cash by saying the money was counterfeit.

One incident took place in North Kildare at approximately 11.30am and the other in Laois at 1pm.

Gardaí are looking to speak to anyone who was in either location at the time, particularly those at Derrinturn/Carbury between 11am and 11.30am and the Emo/Portarlington Rd area between 12.30pm and 1pm.
