Entertainment ahoy at Birr Theatre

Birr Stage Guild's production of the ever popular “Oliver” continues until Saturday, April 20 at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. Limited tickets are still available for shows today (Friday) and tomorrow.

Rounding off a very successful season, Birr Film Club will show the Oscar winning and Oscar nominated films “Argo” and “Beasts of the Southern Wild” on April 23 and April 30 respectively. “Argo” takes as its subject the 1979 invasion of the American Embassy in Tehran and the six Americans who get out of the country by posing as a film crew. “Beast of the Southern Wild” meanwhile follows six year old Hushpuppy, who exists virtually as an orphan in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Midlands Movement Wave: An Alternative Space to Dance” comes to Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on May 3. The initiative started by Nick Bryson of Legitimate Bodies Dance Company provides a general open space for dancing to allow for mindfulness in movement.

Written and performed by Alison Skilbeck, “Are There More of You” takes to the stage on May 4. Funny, ironic and clever the play tells the story of four middle aged women on a journey of self discovery, all dealing with their own pain and all unknowingly linked to each other.
