'Oliver Reed – Wild Thing’ is the next must see in Birr Theatre on Saturday, May 25. In this blistering solo show, join legendary hellraiser Oliver Reed as he knocks back a few drinks and shares his incredible life story. Set in a bar in Malta in 1999, during a break filming 'Gladiator’ with Russell Crowe, time is fast running out for the 'Wild Thing’. Rob Crouch brings Reed back to vivid life in this swaggering, brilliant evening of entertainment.
Before that, though, Birr Film Club’s Oscar season continues with 'Amour’ on Tuesday, May 21. Octogeneraians Georges and Anne are retired classical music teachers, still enjoying each other’s company and life’s simple pleasures in the film. When Anne suffers a mild stroke, Georges insists on looking after her but when she has a second one, life as they know it is over. In this poignant exploration of the power of love Michael Haneke’s direction and marvellous performances from two legendary French actors leave one breathless and deeply moved.
