Les Mis for Birr
The largest youth project ever undertaken by Birr Stage Guild – Les Miserables for Midland Youth – will culminate in two spectacular performances during the 45th annual Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival in August.
Accompanied by a professional orchestra, this complete concert performance by over 50 young singers promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival.
Fully costumed, with special effects, lighting and projection, this full concert production will be staged in The Marian Hall, Birr on August 5 and 6 at 8pm.
Les Miserables is now the world’s longest running musical, seen by over 60 million people in 42 countries.
Birr Stage Guild are excited to produce this classic that sweeps the audience through a range of emotions and themes – poverty and hardship, love and passion, unrequited love and revenge, cruelty and bloodshed in 19th century France.
Musical director Enda O’Connor is a music graduate of Trinity College, Dublin and Royal Academy of Music, London.
In addition to being musical director to over 40 productions, he has also worked with several West End productions, including Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. This concert production is being co-ordinated by Maureen deForge.
