Offaly under-21 team for Leinster opener is named

The Offaly under-21 football team for the Leinster championship first round clash against Westmeath tomorrow (Saturday, February 7) has been named. The Offaly U-21 team is managed by senior selector Mark Plunkett, and the opening round clash is fixed for O"Connor Park, Tullamore, with a 2.30pm throw-in. Meanwhile, St Mary"s, Edenderry are in action in the quarter-finals of the Leinster Colleges SF "A" championship today (Friday). Their opponents are Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar, and the venue is Cusack Park, Mullingar (2pm). Moate Community School take on St Peter"s of Wexford in the same round of the competition - this match is fixed for The Heath, close to Portlaoise, but any supporters travelling to the game are advised to check the venue before departing as there may be a switch. The Moate CS team has a number of players from Offaly clubs in their ranks, including scoring sensation Bernard Allen (Ballycumber/Tubber) and Graham Guilfoyle of Clara.
