OSPCA seek return of feral cat trap
Volunteers at Offaly SPCA are appealing for the return of a stolen feral cat trap.
The trap was taken from outside the Offaly Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals office in Tullamore on Monday afternoon.
A volunteer said the trap was one of just three recently imported from England. It had been washed and was drying outside the office in Market Place when it was taken. Volunteers at the OSPCA believe a young man in a hoodie took the trap.
An Offaly SPCA volunteer said “breeding season is starting now so this is why we need it to trap some feral cats.” Within a year, one un-neutered feral cat can produce 15 kittens, she revealed. “It is very important that we get this trap back,” she said.
The trap costs around €150 but the value to OSPCA volunteers is far higher. They are appealing for the return of the trap. They urged whoever has the trap to leave it outside their office or any veterinary practice. The matter has been reported to Gardai in Tullamore but the volunteer said “we just want it back.”
She said “if anyone would like to make any donations towards replacing it, that would be greatly appreciated.”
Anyone who knows where the trap is or can help with its recovery is asked to contact Offaly SPCA on 086 0222432.
