Cutey Queenie needs a new home

ANY number of theories may be advanced as to the circumstances which led to this beautiful little terrier coming into the care of the Offaly SPCA. On Sunday, May 10, a girl observed a red car stopping on the bog road just outside Geashill for just long enough for the occupants to throw a dog from the car. The make of the car was noted, but this particular observer did not identify the registration number. Perhaps some other member of the public may have seen the incident and taken note of the number? If so, the OSPCA would be very interested in hearing it, with a view to investigating further. This may have been a simple case of cruel behaviour by an unworthy owner. Or it may be a case of two crimes rolled into one: perhaps, the dog had been stolen by the occupants of that red car and then simply discarded when a hoped-for sale did not materialise. The latter scenario seems quite likely in view of the facts that the dog is young, in good condition, very friendly and clearly used to human company and affection. In short, it is the kind of dog that would be more likely to be coveted than discarded. Efforts are being made to locate the owner. If these prove unsuccessful, within the next week Queenie, as she has been re-christened, will be on the look out for a new home. Potential adopters who would like to meet her are invited to contact the OSPCA by phoning 086 3785584.
