"Cupid Wore Skirts" in Ballycumber
Ballycumber Amateur Drama Society’s 2014 production “Cupid Wore Skirts” opens in Ballycumber Community Centre this weekend. The show will be staged on Saturday, February 1 at 8pm and at the same time on Sunday, February 2 before moving on to Tuar Ard in Moate for performances at 8.30pm on February 5 and 8.
“Cupid Wore Skirts” is a tongue-in-cheek comedy charting a bet between widower Andrew Coulter and his acid-tongued sister-in-law that he can’t find a wife within a week.
What follows is an advertisement in the local paper and frolics with potential suitors including a pop wannabe, a wine connoisseur and a career husband hunter.
On the brink of bigamy, the hapless Andrew must rely on his son and daughter to mastermind a solution to his predicament.
Directed by Chris Murphy, “Cupid Wore Skirts” stars Michael Hiney as Andrew, Derek Claffey as Grandpa, Charlotte Molloy as Daphne, Padraic Seery as Ronnie, Aidan Dunne as Brian and Carol Robbins as Aunt Harriet.
Ballycumber Drama Society is delighted to welcome Clare Flattery back to the stage this year in her role as Miss Stansfield, while newcomer Siobhan O’Brien is welcomed in her first role as Ingrid.
Tickets to the show cost €10 (€8 concession) and will be available on the door. Tickets for Tuar Ard can be booked by contacting 09064 82042.
