Strictly Come Dancing...Goes Country!
The cancellation of Garth Brooks’ concerts left many locals disappointed. It looks like the country music genre will put a smile on Tullamore faces after all however, by raising funds for the town’s Christmas lights.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fundraising event is this year changing to ‘Strictly Goes Country’. The new event that’s scheduled to take place in October will feature some of the most popular country songs and music hits from both sides of the Atlantic, both past and present.
Organiser Colm McCabe said the format of the show will be similar to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ however. As a result, dancers are now being recruited.
“No experience is required as there will be some training provided,” he reassured potential competitors this week.
Volunteers are welcome to put their names forward for consideration by the organisation committee by sending an email to info@colmmccabe.com.
The show itself will take place on Saturday, October 18 in the Tullamore Court Hotel, with all funds raised going to pay for Tullamore’s Christmas lights.
