Cllr Tony McCormack withdraws from local election race

Fianna Fáil has announced a change to its ticket for May’s local elections in the Tullamore local electoral area.

Tullamore councillor Tony McCormack, who was originally selected alongside Sinead Dooley, Danny Owens and Frank Moran, has withdrawn from the race due to business commitments.

Fellow Tullamore councillor Declan Harvey has been included on the ticket in his place.

“It is an honour to represent Fianna Fáil in the upcoming elections,” Cllr Harvey said today.

“I will be working with communities across Tullamore in the coming weeks to listen to people’s views and hear concerns about the recent cuts to our local services. I want to provide a strong voice for the people of Tullamore on Offaly County Council.”

“I want to wish the four Fianna Fáil candidates the very best of luck in May,” Cllr McCormack added.

“I remain strongly committed to working with Fianna Fáil during the local election campaign and will be doing everything that I can to support our candidates in Tullamore.”

Local deputy Barry Cowen has thanked Cllr McCormack for his ongoing work as a town councillor in Tullamore on behalf of the Fianna Fail party.

“I know he will continue to play a strong role in the local Fianna Fáil organisation,” he added.
