Killally and Connor owe AIB over €15 million

Edenderry man Ger Killally and former Offaly football manager Richie Connor have been ordered to pay AIB over €15 million in unpaid loans relating to land deals in the county. The former Fianna Fáil councillor and his business partner had already admitted to making secret profits on some of those land deals which involved a number of business consortiums. AIB sought the orders at the Commercial Court on Monday against Mr Killally, Mr Connor and also Declan Guing, Carrick Road, Edenderry, and Frank Lawlor, Clonmullen Lodge, Edenderry. AIB brought the proceedings over loans issued for development and other purposes, including €4.8 million to buy ten acres at Daingean Road, Tullamore and a €8.5 million loan to part-fund the purchase of 16 acres at The Downshire. AIB alleges all four defendants have failed to meet repayments. A total sum of €15.58 million was entered against Killally and Connor. Mr Killally"s legal representatives told the judge, Mr Justice Peter Kelly, that he was consenting to the judgment order, as did Mr Connor in correspondence. The judge noted that Mr Connor had written in a letter that he was unable to meet his obligations concerning the loan and offered an apology. Earlier this month, a legal action was settled against Mr Killally and Mr Connor over the claims they made 'secret profits' of several million from four land deals. That action was brought by Mr Guing and Mr Lawlor over all four deals while Adrian Daly, Racefield House, Cappincur, claimed he was a partner in two deals. The application against Mr Guing and Mr Lawlor for judgment for some €15.44 million was adjourned until July 24.
