Tullamore Musical Society to stage 'We Will Rock You' in 2026

Tullamore audiences have been advised to “get ready to ROCK” with the announcement that the local musical society is to bring the classic rock musical 'We Will Rock You' to the stage in Esker Arts Centre in February 2026.

Appointments of the production team for the 2026 musical will take place over the coming weeks and the show will be staged from February 14 to 21.

The timeless musical which Tullamore Musical Society has chosen to follow on from their sell-out 70th anniversary production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' was written by Ben Elton and features more than 20 hits songs from Queen, including “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody To Love,” “We Are the Champions” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.” One of the most popular musicals of all time, it has been performed in 28 countries around the globe and has been seen by more than 16 million people.

'We Will Rock You' holds the distinction of being the longest-running musical at London's Dominion Theatre, where it ended its 12-year run on May 31, 2014 having been seen by over seven million people.

The story of the musical revolves around two revolutionaries as they try to save rock ‘n’ roll in a post-apocalyptic world, so audiences can expect to be treated to a fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to individuality.

Meanwhile, Tullamore Musical Society has appointed its new committee for the 2025-2026 season, with John Conroy taking on the demanding role of Chairperson, with Natalee Kelly as President of the society. Other committee members are: Ruth O'Keeffe (Treasurer); Emma Dench (Secretary); Mairéad Brennan (PRO), Karen O'Brien; Barry Dunne and Dubhán Goulding.
