UK-based singer-songwriter to perform in Tullamore next week
Following a recent run of shows in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, Cornwall-based singer-songwriter Sarah McQuaid is heading to Ireland for a series of tour dates that will start with a performance in Tullamore's Esker Arts Centre on Thursday next, April 24.
Sarah's music has drawn comparisons with a range of artists including Sandy Denny, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Karen Carpenter and Lana Del Rey.
Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, holding dual Irish and American citizenship, and now settled in England, she brings the eclecticism of her background to her "captivating" and "unorthodox" songwriting.
Sarah revealed that she's been working hard on the writing of her next album, "and it's been great being able to try out the new material live in concert — during the warm-up tour the reaction from audiences to the new songs was fantastic, lots of whoops and whistles, so I’m looking forward to taking them further afield and maybe adding others as we go along.
"The plan is to record the new album this summer — hopefully in my new home studio — and release it early next year."
Sarah McQuaid's performance in the Esker Arts Centre on Thursday, April 24, will be the first of eight shows she is undertaking in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Tickets are priced €16/14, and can be booked on the venue's website here.
