Kilbeggan gets set to host All-American Car, Truck and Bike Show

Car, truck and bike enthusiasts from all over the Midlands and beyond will flock to Kilbeggan Racecourse next weekend for the ever-popular All-American Car, Truck & Bike Show, which takes place throughout the day on Sunday, April 27 next.

Now in it's 25th year, the bold and brash extravaganza is the biggest and only gathering of American vehicles on the island of Ireland, and promises something for everyone from Elvis Presley's Cadillac Eldorado, fire engines that saw service in New York's 911, film cars like the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee Dodge Charger to Starsky & Hutch red and white Ford Torinos and the KITT Pontiac Trans Am.

There will also be huge big rigs, pick up trucks, muscle cars and luxurious Cadillac and Lincolns, along with drawing workshops for kids and great 70's American music for young and old alike to enjoy. This year 70’s American rock is featured; tunes that haven’t heard for a long time, or even ever, which should go down well with a good number of the visitors.

Organised by the Midland American Auto Club in Kilbeggan, next weekend's show will feature over 300 American vehicles, including Harley Davidson motorcycles to monster Big Rig Kenworths, Peterbilts, Internationals, Macks and Freightliners, American Fire Engines and pick-up trucks old and new. Also on show will be Ford, Dodge and Chevy pick-up trucks, which are a perennial favourite of all visitors to the show.

Other features are the amazing American fire engines including the turntable ladder engine from Glen Cove in New York which saw service in 911 in 2001. The ladder extends to 100 feet (30 metres) and can shoot water 100 feet into the air.

Another interesting feature is a vintage 1969 Cadillac Eldorado 2 door coupe which was reportedly purchased by Elvis Presley and gifted to an assistant.

The ever popular drawing classes for the kids returns with a professional art teacher to bring out their creative side to draw a whole or a detailed part of an American vehicle.

There will also be an outdoor and indoor autojumble in the big sheds to help restorers find that elusive part or pick up some Americana for the kids. There are automotive related vendors inside the sheds, and there will also be a great selection of food and coffee trucks to cater to most tastes.

Non-American vintage vehicles are invited to park in a reserved area in the public car park near the showfield entrance so owners of non-American classic cars can also bring their older car, lorry or van out for a run to the show for the day. There will also be disabled parking near the showfield entrance.

There will be advertising on local radio with ticket giveaway competitions for the lucky winners to attend the show for free. Otherwise it is still only €10 entry (cash) for adults and accompanied kids under 14 go free. Gates open at 11am. American show cars, trucks, vans, pickups and bikes and occupants all get in free.
