Tullamore soul and pop artist Tolü Makay has announced the release of her new single, entitled 'War', which is set for release on April 29.
The 29-year-old performed the song as part of her set at the Croílár Festival in Athlone last Saturday, as she left a lasting impression on the audience in St Mary's Church with her outstanding vocals.
Her new single 'War' was inspired by the late Sinéad O'Connor, and her activism through music.
The local singer said the song was her version of 'Zombie' by The Cranberries, as she took inspiration from Sinead's strength and voice.
“Even if you're afraid, it's important to use your voice for yourself, and for others,” Tolü said to the packed audience in Athlone. “I needed to make my own version."
Tolü's performance of 'War' elicited quite the response from the audience.
The singer closed out her set at the Croílár Festival by performing 'Zombie', as she received a standing ovation and a lasting round of applause.
