Coláiste Naomh Cormac wins LOETB STEAM Programme of the Year

Coláiste Naomh Cormac's STEAM Clubs were awarded the prestigious title of 2025 LOETB STEAM Programme of the Year.

The title was awarded as a result of 1st place finishes in both the LEGO League and Minecraft Competitions, along with highly commended entries in the VEX Robotics and Podcast categories.

The students' innovation, teamwork, and dedication have earned the school a total prize fund of €4,000, which will be used to further enhance STEAM facilities and equipment in the school.

The STEAM Programme at Coláiste Naomh Cormac thrives thanks to the ongoing support and collaboration of the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board, Offaly County Council, Laois County Council, NIS, Dream Space, LEGO Education, Midlands 103, and VEX Robotics.

The school extends a special thanks to the dedicated teachers Ms. Doorley, Mr. Meehan, Mr. McCabe, Ms. Hennessy and Ms. Browne who facilitated and coordinated the STEAM Clubs throughout the year - their guidance, encouragement, and behind the scenes work made these successes possible.

This award is a testament to the talent and determination of our students, whose efforts have brought great pride to the school community.

Countless hours were dedicated across class time, lunch breaks, and after-school sessions to bring their innovative projects to life - whether building sustainable virtual towns in Minecraft, designing competitive LEGO League robots, fine-tuning their VEX Robotics builds, or crafting engaging podcast content. Their commitment has truly paid off.

Coláiste Naomh Cormac looks forward to the bright futures ahead for these students - any of whom are aspiring software developers, civil engineers, architects, game designers, urban planners, and digital content creators.

With a growing focus on regional innovation, sustainability, and infrastructure, these young people are already shaping the future of their local communities through their creativity, collaboration, and vision.
