New Zealand ambassador to visit Offaly on Friday

New Zealand's ambassador to Ireland is to visit Offaly tomorrow (Friday) at the invitation of local TD, Tony McCormack.

The Offaly TD said he was delighted that Ambassador Trevor Mallard would be coming to see the best of what the Faithful County has to offer.

The Ambassador's itinerary includes visits to local farms, leading food producers, the renowned Tullamore D.E.W. distillery, award-winning schools, and two of Offaly's most iconic locations — Glenisk O'Connor Park and the Clonmacnoise heritage site.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Deputy McCormack said: "I'm thrilled to welcome Ambassador Mallard to Offaly. We have a beautiful county with amazing people, a rich cultural heritage, and so many success stories in agriculture, education, sport, and enterprise.

"This is a great opportunity to share that with a valued international guest."

He added that the visit was part of an effort to strengthen ties between Ireland and New Zealand and shines a spotlight on Offaly's unique mix of innovation, heritage, and community spirit.
