TY students make mini movie
Transition Year students of Coláiste Naomh Cormac recently had the exciting opportunity to take part in the creation of a mini movie titled ‘The Missing Hurl’, funded by Offaly County Council.
This project provided TY students with a first hand experience in filmmaking, allowing them to be involved in every aspect of the production. Students took on key roles in directing, camera work, sound, acting, and even costume design, makeup, props, and location management. They meticulously crafted the costumes and makeup to bring their characters to life, carefully selecting props that helped tell the story, and scouting the perfect locations to create an authentic atmosphere.
Under the expert guidance of facilitators Stephen Kavanagh and Dillon Cleary, the students not only developed their technical skills but also learned the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, and artistic collaboration. The project offered an incredible opportunity to explore the world of filmmaking while building confidence and developing practical skills in a variety of areas.
Coláiste Naomh Cormac has issued a special thank you to everyone involved in making the project such a success. It extended its gratitude to Offaly County Council for the generous funding, and to Stephen Kavanagh and Dillon Cleary for their invaluable support and guidance throughout the process. Most importantly, a massive well done to the TY class of 2025 whose enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work brought ‘The Missing Hurl’ to life.
