Busy week of walking, running and volunteering at Mountlucas Parkrun

Almost 60 walkers and runners braved the cold, wet and windy conditions on Saturday morning to complete the 5km parkrun at Mountlucas windfarm. Despite dry weather conditions predicted, rain arrived a few minutes after parkrunners had set off at 9.30am. However the weather conditions didn't deter the dedicated parkrunners, with five of them achieving a new personal best time. A special thanks to this week's volunteer team who braved the cold. Parkrun could not continue without the support of its volunteers. A new volunteer this week was Bruce Scally, aged just 8 years old, whose volunteer role involved sorting finish tokens into the correct order after each parkrunner finished.

After the event, Bruce said: "I really enjoyed volunteering. It was very easy. I love going to parkrun every week and it was nice to help."

Celebrations were also in order as Paul Askin reached the milestone of 10 parkruns this week, and was joined by his Dad completing the 5km looped course. Well done Paul!
