Birr artist's World Refugee Day book features at exhibit in Italy

Birr artist Shannon Bergin will have her work featured in an art exhibition in Bologna, Italy this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday, March 29 and Monday, March 31, the event will display a series of ‘tiny’ eight page children’s books created by 21 IllustratorsIreland artists.

The event will be hosted in the RiSalto Bottega Creative in the Northern Italian city.

"These books were made specially for and offered as a symbolic gesture to the refugee population in Ireland," Shannon said.

"The books were launched as a series on World Refugee Day (June 20) at the Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford. Our aim is to bring awareness of the issue, welcome refugees to our country and to attract donations to the cause."
