Tullamore students compete in Young Environmentalist Awards

Students from Tullamore College took part in the Leinster semi-finals of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards recently in Airfield Estate, Dundrum, Dublin.

The semi-final ‘ECO-Dens’, as they are known, featured 40 climate-conscious projects from primary and secondary schools as well as youth groups across Leinster.

Tullamore College teams presented projects entitled 'Grass Sheets' and 'Rejuvenate Design House' to the judges.

The semi-finalists were competing for a place in the final of the Young Environmentalist Awards to be held in Dublin in May.

The Young Environmentalist Awards by ECO-UNESCO is an all-island programme that recognises the work of young people aged from 10 to 18, who have taken environmental action in their school or community and who have come up with creative solutions to solve environmental issues.

Two more ECO-Dens are taking place this week, with the Connacht semi-finals in Galway and the Ulster semi-finals in Armagh.
