Exhibition by Trish Taylor-Thompson to open in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre
Visual artist Trish Taylor-Thompson is set to unveil her latest exhibition, BIOPHILIA, a powerful exploration of the delicate links between nature and humanity.
On display at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre from Tuesday, March 25 to Friday, May 16, this new body of work, created using an experimental mix of glass inks, oils, acrylics, and innovative layering techniques, offers viewers a luminous journey into the beauty, vulnerability and complexity of the natural world.
Originally from Dublin and now based in Terryglass, County Tipperary, Trish Taylor-Thompson has a unique approach to her art that captures life, energy, and colour on canvas.
In BIOPHILIA, Trish channels her passion for environmental stewardship and the urgency of climate change, crafting artworks that reflect the fragile interdependence of ecosystems.
“[I want to] explore the delicate balance between nature and humanity in BIOPHILIA. Using light and transparencies in layered techniques, I wanted to evoke both the resilience and the vulnerability of life, inviting viewers to see nature in a new, thought-provoking light,” explained Trish Taylor-Thompson.
The exhibition invites audiences to engage with nature on multiple levels. Trish’s singular use of vibrant colours and organic textures creates a visual effect that can be in turn awe-inspiring and contemplative. Through her signature style—melding realistic botanical detail with abstract expression—BIOPHILIA is a timely reflection on our planet’s ecological challenges and the need for urgent action in environmental preservation.
The official opening will take place on Saturday, March 29, at 2.30pm, marking the start of an immersive experience that promises to captivate art enthusiasts, nature lovers and environmental advocates alike.
