Offaly TD issues reminder to check passport validity before travel
Offaly Fine Gael TD John Clendennen is reminding the public to ensure their passports are up to date before making any travel plans.
With many countries requiring at least six months of validity beyond intended travel dates, he issued a statement to the media advising individuals to check their documents well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
“The last thing anyone wants is to have their travel disrupted due to passport-related complications," said the local TD.
"By taking a few simple steps now, people can save themselves stress and disappointment later.” said Deputy Clendennen.
He said people should check that their passport is free from physical damage, such as torn pages or a detached cover, and should look to ensure it's valid for at least six months beyond their planned travel dates.
Those needing to renew a passport can do so online at www.dfa.ie/passportonline.
Deputy Clendennen said he was encouraging anyone experiencing difficulties with passport applications or renewals to reach out for assistance.
