Rhode AC group conquers Rome

Ten Rhode Athletic Club members travelled to Rome earlier this month and completed the half marathon race in the famous Italian capital.

On Sunday, March 2, the Rhode group took to the streets of Rome and ran the distance of 13.1 miles (21 kilometres).

The ten athletes were Sandra Ryan, Eimear Conway, Sinead Murphy, Sarah Malone, JP McLoughlin, Caroline McLoughlin, Alison Brereton, Holly Ryan, Aiden Brereton and Clare Conway.

Rhode AC PRO Aisling Foy said the the club was particularly pleased for Holly Ryan, who completed her first half marathon after only recently taking up running.

The most popular half marathon in Italy, the Rome half marathon course began in the EUR district of the city and finished near the beaches of Ostia

Rhode AC members train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.45pm on Rhode Power Station Lane and new members are always welcome.
