Local TD welcomes new ownership of Kinnitty Castle

Kinnitty native John Clendennen, TD, has warmly welcomed the news that new owners have purchased Kinnitty Castle, saying this marked an exciting new chapter for the iconic Offaly landmark.

Speaking following the announcement that the Hanly Castle Hotel Group had purchased the premises, Deputy Clendennen said: “Kinnitty Castle is a treasured asset in our local community, rich in history and renowned as a destination attracting both domestic and international visitors.

"The investment by the Hanly Castle Hotel Group is a significant boost for the local economy, tourism, and job creation in the area. I look forward to seeing their plans for the castle unfold and wish them every success as they embark on this new venture.”

Kinnitty Castle, nestled in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, has long been a renowned wedding venue for the past number of decades, and the investment and development of Slieve Bloom Mountain Bike Trails is expected to provide another opportunity to attract visitors to Offaly.

The local Fine Gael TD said the new ownership signalled a renewed commitment to enhancing the castle’s offerings, ensuring its continued success as a premier destination.

Deputy Clendennen added: “This is positive news for Offaly and the wider Midlands region.

“I have been a strong advocate for tourism development in the county for many years and I’m fully committed to ensuring it remains a priority, and engaging with the new owners, local stakeholders, and tourism bodies such as Offaly Tourism to support initiatives that drive economic development, job creation and showcase the very best of what our proud county has to offer.”
