Planning approval for 17 new houses in Rhode

Planning permission has been granted for a 17-unit housing development in Rhode.

The planning application for the development was lodged with Offaly County Council by Deirdre Mulvin and Anne Marie Kelleher, executors for the estate of Tony Mulvin, last summer.

The application sought permission for 20 new houses. These included the provision of 12 three bed semi-detached houses, two four bed semi-detached houses, one two bed semi-detached house, one two bed semi-detached single-storey house and a maisonette style building containing two ground floor dwellings and two first floor dwellings, on a site addressed as Road, Rhode.

The planning permission also included an upgrade of the existing agricultural entrance to a vehicular entrance and the provision of an access roadway and footpaths.

Offaly County Council opted to award planning approval for 17 homes, rather than the 20 originally proposed.

Permission was granted subject to 22 conditions.
