Ballinahown NS to host Big Breakfast on St Patrick’s Day

Ballinahown NS will host its 2025 Big Breakfast on St Patrick’s Day in Ballinahown Community Hall.

A key event in the local social calendar, the Big Breakfast is organised by the Parents’ Association of Ballinahown NS and will be held on Monday, March 17, from 9am until 12.30pm.

The event also incorporates a popular bake sale with delicious home-baked goodies available.

The addition of a cultural element will see some local children showcasing their musical and Irish dancing talents, with performances taking place throughout the morning.

Moate-based Lillymay’s Café Deli will be catering the event this year with full Irish breakfast, with tea/coffee and brown bread, being served for just €10 per adult and €6.50 per child.

Principal of Ballinahown NS, Tom Keena, said: "We are delighted to have Frank and his team from Lillymay’s on board and thank them for their sponsorship.

"Since the inaugural Big Breakfast, it has grown in popularity year on year. It is a great social occasion for the whole community and we love to see the same people coming back every year to support our school. It is a great way to bring families, friends and neighbours together. We are looking forward to seeing them all again for this year’s Big Breakfast.

"It is also the school's main fundraiser every year and allows us to supplement so many activities for the children," added Mr Keena. "Funds raised this year will go towards trips, resources and our new SET (special education) room, which the school is fully funding.

"We are hugely grateful to all our sponsors, without whom the event just would not be possible," he said. Any local businesses or people who would like to provide sponsorship this year can contact the parents' association.

The organisers are urging people to kick off their St Patrick’s Day celebrations at the Big Breakfast at Ballinahown Hall from 9am until 12.30pm on Monday, March 17.
