Women's Day viola recitals in Edenderry and Tullamore Libraries

On Saturday, March 8, musician Aoise O'Dwyer will present two pop-up recitals of music for solo viola by female composers in celebration of International Women's Day.

Aoise will introduce and perform a selection of pieces from her project 'Women Composers and the Viola' which premiered at Esker Arts, in Tullamore, last November.

The first recital will take place at 11am in Edenderry Library, along with a coffee morning, and the second recital will take place at 3pm in Tullamore Library.

Featured composers will include Imogen Holst, Maria Newman, Katia Tiutiunnik and Valeria Romero. These events are free of charge and open to all. Aoise O'Dwyer is a professional violist from Offaly who enjoys a varied career, working extensively with the Irish National Opera Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra.

She also performs regularly as part of Alma Duo, O'Dwyer-Konina Duo, and as a solo violist.

Aoise is passionate about her research and performance of music by women composers and has received support for her work from the Arts Council and Offaly Arts Office.
