Ó Sé discussed possibility of becoming Offaly senior football manager

Five time All Star winner and former footballer of the year, Tomás Ó Sé, has confirmed in an interview this week that discussions took place with a view to him becoming Offaly senior football team manager in 2022.

Speaking on Off The Ball, the five time Kerry All Ireland medal winner, discussed the opportunity to succeed John Maughan as manager but due to work commitments was unable to give the job the necessary dedication such a role requires.

His first senior intercounty role, Ó Sé was appointed to work alongside Maughan prior to the start of the 2022 season, one in which Offaly reached the semi-final of the Tailteann Cup but also suffered relegation from Division 2 of the National Football League. Maughan departed the manager's role in July 2022.

During the interview, Ó Sé confirmed that he was tempted by the offer but added that he "doesn't lose sleep" over the decision he made.

"The set up while I was with Offaly was very much player focused, the attitude was positive and I would have gone at the job but for a change in my work situation," Ó Sé said during the interview.

Ó Sé is currently manager of the Kerry Under 20 footballers.
