Major boost for Tullamore College as special class secured

Education in Offaly has received a significant boost with the sanctioning of a special class for Tullamore College by the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) for the 2025/26 school year. This class will provide essential support for students who need it most, ensuring they have access to the education and resources they deserve.

Offaly TD Tony McCormack has welcomed this development, praising the efforts of Edward McEvoy, and his team for securing this much-needed place. “Special education remains a priority, and I will continue to work with schools and education bodies to ensure we have adequate places for all students who need them,” Tony said.

This announcement is part of a nationwide expansion, with 209 new special classes approved, and more to follow. Under Budget 2025, a total of 400 new special classes and 300 special school places will support over 2,700 students, with five new special schools also set to open.
