Works to take place on lighting in Clara estate after recent outage
Works are set to take place in The Green in Clara today, Wednesday, February 26, after a recent outage of the lighting in the area.
Offaly County Councillor Aoife Masterson has noted that the lack of lighting in the estate has caused "huge distress" for residents.
"I am glad to stay that, following engagement with the ESB and Offaly Council, I can confirm that works will be carried out tomorrow and/or Thursday," Masterson said. "It is hoped that this will see lighting returned no later than Thursday evening.
"I am conscious of the huge distress this has caused residents, especially elderly residents. Moreover, this is far from the first time this has happened.
"Rest assured that while this may be fixed in the short term, I will continue to work on the underlying issues that have led to this situation."
The Sinn Fein politician has noted staffing issues and underinvestment as key issues which led to the delay in fixing the lighting issue in the housing estate.
