National colours on show as St Patrick's Day parade launched in Tullamore

The Tullamore St. Patrick's Day Parade was officially launched this week at the old Folly behind the Town Hall.

Committee members paraded the colours associated with the national feast day as preparations continue apace for the parade which is less than three weeks away.

The St Patrick's Day parade takes place on Monday, March 17, starting at 11.30am sharp.

The committee are urging groups and organisations to finalise their preparations for their entry.

Official letters have been sent to over 60 groups with community and sporting organisations still interested in taking part requested to contact committee secretary, Sean O' Brien, on 086 3892854.

There will be excellent prizes on offer to the winners of the various parade categories and these will be presented at a gala function two weeks after the occasion.

The theme for this year's parade is 'Celebrating Culture and Heritage', the committee hoping to see groups from different cultures taking part in the parade.
