Playground and Gaelscoil to benefit from upcoming Fáile tractor run in Daingean
The official launch of the 2025 Faile Vintage Club tractor run took place on Saturday last, with two good causes in the locality set to benefit from this year's event.
The tractor run this year will take place on Sunday, March 9, from Seery's Bar in Daingean, and will raise funds in support of Gael Scoil An Eiscir Riada in Cloncollig, Tullamore, and Molesworth Bridge Community Playground in Daingean.
Donna Ni Mhairtin, principal of Gael Scoil An Eiscir Riada said the school was delighted with the opportunity to take part in the run.
Funds raised will go towards a sensory room at the school which will cater for children with sensory needs, allowing them to take a break if they become overwhelmed. The school has just over 200 pupils and is taking names for enrolment in September 2025.
A new committee was set up in April 2024 for the Molesworth Bridge Community Playground, and this is their first major fundraiser.
Sarah Mullen, playground committee chairperson, thanked the Faile Committee for selecting the playground as one of the beneficiaries of this year's annual tractor run.
She said the playground was an asset to the village but that it does need some of the equipment replaced. Maggie Colgan, secretary, and David Hayes, assistant treasurer, were both on hand at Saturday's launch to help promote the playground.
The tractor run is always a great family day out. Registration is from 9.30am on March 9 at Seery's Bar, with refreshments, auction and raffle on the day.
