The final game in the first round of fixtures this SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season has gotten underway.

It is half-time at the Aviva Stadium where Shamrock Rovers are taking on their bitter rivals Bohemians with the northside team up 1-0.

Fresh from his brilliant showing in Europe during the week Michael Noonan has started up front for Rovers.

They have also just kicked-off in today's early Premier League game.

Liverpool have welcomed Wolves to Anfield.

Later on Manchester United are away to Tottenham in the main game of the day.

Ahead of this United boss Ruben Amorim has said he and his players need to carry responsbility for their failings as the club look set to make more staff redundant.

United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has plans to axe 200 more employees as part of cost-cutting measures.

Kick-off in north London is at 4:30pm.

Donegal will look to become the only side to win their opening three games in Division 1 of the Allianz National Football League this afternoon.

They welcome All-Ireland champions Armagh to Ballybofey for a 3:45pm throw-in.

Mayo meanwhile are once again looking for their first victory of the campaign.

They've welcomed Tyrone to Castlebar with that game in the second half.

Elsewhere, the top two in Division 2 are facing each other at Dr. Hyde Park where Roscommon are hosting Monaghan.

Racing

An Taoiseach Micheál Martin has led the tributes to jockey Michael O'Sullivan followig his tragic death due to head injuries he sustained in a fall at Thurles earlier this month.

24-year-old O'Sullivan passed away at Cork University Hospital where he had been in an induced coma since the incident.

Martin described him as a "talented rider who inspired many."

The Cork native rose to prominance when he rode Marine Nationale to Supreme Novices' Hurdle victory at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

Today's card at Punchestown has been postponed as a mark of respect.

Golf

Rory McIlroy is best of the Irish ahead of the final round of the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour.

He'll tee-off from 3-under-par, in a tie for 8th.

The lead in California is held by American Patrick Rodgers on 8-under-par.

Seamus Power meanwhile is level-par with Shane Lowry 4-over.
