Newly-unearthed footage from nearly 30 years ago has shown Offaly singer-songwriter Mundy performing for the TV cameras in Tullamore's shopping centre.

The Birr artist, who was 21 at the time, is shown serenading shoppers in the summer of 1996 with a rendition of his song, To You I Bestow.

To You I Bestow would go on to be featured later that year on the soundtrack album of the film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.

The soundtrack album was a huge success, recording triple-platinum sales in the U.S., while in Australia it was the second-highest selling album of 1997.

The footage of Mundy performing in Tullamore aired on an RTÉ show called A Stretch in the Evening, which was hosted by Mary Kennedy.

It was digitized and shared online by the popular KM2 archive account (@KillianM2) on X, formerly Twitter.
