Tullamore 'Strictly Stand Up' event takes place on Friday
A group of local characters will get to try their hand at live comedy this Friday evening, January 31, when they take part in the annual 'Strictly Stand Up' night organised by Tullamore Rotary Club.
The show is taking place in the Esker Arts Centre, with doors opening at 7pm, and it will raise funds in support of Tullamore Rugby Club's new pitch development.
Now in its eight year, the event sees renowned comedian Karl Spain take locals that would like to try their hand at stand up and give them three workshop sessions before they perform on stage.
The winner will then be crowned the King or Queen of Comedy for 2025.
Tullamore Rugby Club has been profiling participants in the event this year, and they include its player Robin Maher, "a Tullamore Front Rower who will definitely pick on the front row on Friday night."
Odhran Hickey, Sean Dolan from Cloghan, Donegal native Adrian Stewart and retired police officer Tom Dully are also among those taking to the stage in Esker Arts.
The 2024 'King of Comedy' was Ciaran Kelly, while the annual fundraiser has also featured performances by a handful of Offaly politicians over the years, including TDs Tony McCormack and John Clendennen.
Tickets, priced €25, can be booked here with the show getting underway at 7.30pm.
