McCormack hails remarkable commitment of frontline workers
Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Tony McCormack has expressed his appreciation to all the dedicated individuals and teams working tirelessly to restore services and ensure public safety in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn, which brought significant challenges to communities across Offaly.
McCormack praised the exceptional efforts of the council staff, emergency services, ESB crews, Irish Water personnel, and communication teams who braved extreme weather conditions to serve the public. He noted the remarkable commitment of frontline workers and the crucial support provided by administration and communications staff in keeping the community informed.
Deputy McCormack highlighted the importance of a coordinated response, emphasising that the effective delivery of services depends on both visible frontline efforts and behind-the-scenes work.
“The work of administration and communications staff is equally critical in times of crisis. Keeping the public updated with accurate and timely information provides reassurance and guidance during uncertain times.£
Deputy McCormack also acknowledged the significant challenges faced by ESB and Irish Water crews, who worked in dangerous and difficult conditions to restore electricity and water supplies to affected areas. “It is clear that the efforts of these teams go above and beyond the call of duty, and their work has had a direct positive impact on our communities."
Deputy McCormack urges his constituents to apply for the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme, which provides financial assistance to households affected by the storm if their insurance does not cover the damage. Further information on the scheme can be accessed from your local social welfare office.
Deputy McCormack further emphasised the importance of the support and resilience shown by local communities across Offaly during this challenging time. Storm Eowyn’s aftermath has demonstrated the strength of community spirit and the dedication of public service workers who come together in times of need. He concluded by encouraging continued cooperation and patience as efforts continue to restore services fully.
