Mountlucas parkrun persists through storm and snow

Mountlucas parkrun was delighted to welcome almost 70 participants at its most recent event.

Storm Éowyn and the subsequent snowfall couldn't deter the dedicated volunteer team for the event. The Run Director group remained in frequent correspondence leading up to storm Éowyn to determine whether it was safe to proceed with the parkrun. A further challenge occured when there was a significant amount of snowfall in the Mountlucas area on Friday night.

However Kevin Curran and Paschal Naughton, part of the Run Director team for Mountlucas parkrun, were on the case early on Saturday morning to do a course inspection to determine if it was safe to proceed. They were delighted to report that it was safe, and marked any areas which were slippy with traffic cones.

Mountlucas parkrun is a free weekly timed event held at Bord na Móna Mountlucas wind farm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. For more information see parkrun.ie/mountlucas
