Daingean is one of the areas affected.

Water disruptions in Daingean, Rhode and Walsh Island areas

Water supply is disrupted in the Daingean, Rhode and Walsh Island areas, as a result of Storm Éowyn and an interruption to power, Uisce Éireann has confirmed.

Uisce Éireann said its crews are on the ground and are working to restore water as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, an alternative water supply is available at the old fire station on the square in Daingean, at the Community Hall, Mount Lucas Road, Rhode village and outside Hoppers Bar, Walsh Island today (Saturday).

People are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.

“Due to the severity of the storm, Uisce Éireann had activated its emergency response processes, including deploying generators at key sites where power outages were likely,” explained Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce.

“We are working closely with the ESB to return power to these key water services sites as quickly as possible. When power is restored, it will take time for the network to fill and for water supplies to be fully restored,”
