Connacht GAA Air Dome destroyed by storm
Connacht GAA has pledged to rebuild its flagship Air Dome at Bekan, Co. Mayo, after it was destroyed in the early hours of the morning by Storm Éowyn.
In a social media post this morning, Connacht GAA confirmed the news.
"Unfortunately, the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was significantly damaged by Storm Éowyn overnight, thankfully no one was hurt."
"Thanks to everyone for the support, it is our full intention to rebuild this magnificent facility as soon as possible."
The facility was opened in 2020 and has been a huge hit hosting significant games across a range of GAA sports and ages.
It is 150 metres in length, 100 metres wide and 26 metres high. It contains a full-size 4G pitch and seating for 600 spectators.
