Offaly TD votes against nomination of Michéal Martin for Taoiseach
Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan was among the 76 Dáil deputies who voted No to the nomination of Fianna Fáil leader Michéal Martin as Taoiseach.
The other two Offaly TDs, newcomers Fianna Fáil's Tony McCormack and Fine Gael's John Clendennen were among those who voted in favour of the nomination.
The Dáil approved the nomination by 95 votes to 76.
The Taoiseach-elect then went to Áras an Uachtaráin to be formally appointed by the president.
Nolan is currently a member of the Regional Independents technical group at the centre of a controversy over some members of the group, who were involved in negotiating a Programme for Government, and who are not Ministers or Junior Ministers, seeking speaking rights as part of the Opposition.
Nolan was not part of the formation of Government talks, and has said she would engage with Government on a case-by-case basis.
