Boher National School recently claimed the top prize at the Roscommon Mini Motion Picture Film Festival for its short film Down With That Sort of Thing.

The five-minute-long film is a humorous re-enactment of the theft of the precious shrine of St Manchan, which happened at St Manchan's Church in Boher, near Ballycumber, in June 2012.

The students participated in a workshop series led by Shuttermaniac Productions, where they learned the essentials of filmmaking.

Former Boher NS principal Anne Casey and local historian Eamon Larkin were interviewed for the film and shared their memories of the infamous theft from the local church, while there was also a cameo role in the film for local Gardai.
