Gardai clock motorist driving at over 50km above limit on Offaly road
Gardai have reported some serious speeding incidents on a local road today, one of which involved a driver travelling at more than 50km per hour above the speed limit.
A speeding check was carried out this afternoon (Friday) along the R420 between Geashill and Portarlington, where an 80km per hour speed limit is in effect.
Within one 20-minute period, three serious speeding detections were made, one of which involved a driver travelling at 137km per hour.
The two other incidents involved drivers flying along at 114km and at 113km per hour in the 80km zone.
On social media, Gardai said the motorists involved would receive both a fine and points in the post.
They also said the drivers would be on course to lose their licences if they didn't slow down and start complying with the speed limits.
