Over 11,000 cars failed NCT in Tullamore in 2024

Statistics show that over 11,000 cars failed the NCT test in centres based in Tullamore in 2024.

A total of 29,907 car were tested, with 18,842 cars passing the test, and 11,065 failing to meet the mark.

Of those that failed, 1.8k vehicles were in the 'dangerous fail' category' - meaning that the vehicle had badly corroded bodywork; bald, bulging or damaged tyres; brake fluid leaks; car doors that do not close properly; or brake lights not working.

Nationwide, a record number of vehicle received the 'dangerous fail' category, with over 128,000 vehicles falling into the classification.

In total 1,732,095 NCT test were carried out in Ireland in 2024.
