Mullooly to bring MEP group to Offaly

Ciaran Mullooly, MEP, has confirmed the European Commission Regional Development committee will visit Kilcormac Development Association next month.

The stop, set for Wednesday, February 26, is part of a fact-finding visit to Ireland with the purpose of seeing how the Just Transition Cohesion Fund is being used in the country.

Mullooly, of Independent Ireland, said he had extended an invitation to the committee to visit Kilcormac.

"The purpose of the trip is for MEPS from all over Europe to see for themselves how the European Commission Just Transition Cohesion Fund is being spent in Ireland," he said.

He added that the MEPs will also aim to "learn from the local committee of some of the challenges in working with the fund to try and create jobs in areas in areas of the peatland where jobs were lost."
